The 2018-2019 NBA season has not yet tipped off and the Los Angeles Lakers have already lost one of their major offseason acquisitions for the year.

The news broke last week that DeMarcus Cousins suffered an ACL tear after bumping knees with another player while training in Las Vegas.

With Cousins out for the season, the search for his replacement began for general manager Rob Pelinka. They found said replacement in eight-time All-Star Dwight Howard.

Hosts BJ Boyer and Randy King test their scouting hats and discuss what the impact Howard will have on the Lakers roster

“It’s very low-risk and potentially could prove to be a very fruitful reward”- BJ Boyer

“He’s a player the lakers may lean on, not as a starter but somebody to play crucial bench minutes” – Randy King

Boyer and King also hope that LeBron James and company can figure things out early in the season as the Lakers have a very friendly schedule in their first 20 or so games.

Other topics discussed by both Boyer and King include: what role exactly suits Kyle Kuzma the best given the current roster make-up? Also, will having minutes restrictions for LeBron James or Anthony Davis be a good idea for Frank Vogel?
