The first player to sign in the top-ten ranked incoming freshman class at Rutgers was Elizabeth Martino.

Liz said the decision to sign with Rutgers was “pretty easy”. She felt a sense of loyalty since they kept up with her after tearing her ACL two summers ago, while other programs became hesitant.

When she found out her friend Diamond Johnson was considering Rutgers she wasn’t shy about doing her own recruiting. Liz describes Diamond, the two-time consecutive Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year, as “unstoppable”.

I love the fact that you can be a girl and do what guys say we can’t. So out of basketball I just want to make an impact on other’s lives.

We talked to Liz about the unbelievable ability to hoop with her long nails and eyelashes, which she describes as extensions of her and her game.

A special talent on the floor, Liz talks about what she’s doing to translate well at the next level, which she says includes getting her weight up and taking less possessions off.
