Kristaps Porzingis absolutely has the ability to be a top 5 player in this league, and I believe that’s without question. In his introductory interview, new head coach of the New York Knicks, Jeff Hornacek had high praises of the young forward, praises that mentioned Porzingis as possibly being a top 5 player in the league and even better yet, even the best player in the league. Some may question that logic and raise eyebrows but I believe Porzingis can be the best player in the league in a couple of years.
Kristaps has the skill set to become one of the best players in the NBA. The all-around game that he possesses makes him a huge threat on the offensive end. He has a post game which is actually type rare in this day and age, but he also can shoot outside and take you off the dribble at a 7’3 stature. This same type of style is what made Dirk Nowitzki one of the best players to ever play the game. Those types of abilities at that size and height, is impossible to guard and if Porzingis can hone on his craft, he too can take over this league. He’s very young and he still will need his body to develop but after seeing how he played last season, his future is very bright. Porzingis’s talent gave Knicks fan, those same Knicks fan that booed him when he was drafted, a lot to cheer for last season. Although their season wasn’t a success, watching Porzingis and envisioning his upside made them excited for what’s to come next. And the fact that he plays in the ‘Mecca of Basketball‘, it makes his spotlight much brighter which will help his viewership around the world. It’s all up to Kristaps Porzingis on how great he wants to be but if you ask me right now, I think he has what it takes to be the best player in the league.
