According to Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports, Kevin Garnett has bought 1,000 tickets to the Minnesota Timberwolves’ home game Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kevin Garnett received a huge ovation by the Timberwolves fans in his first game back in Minnesota. A sold out crowd came to Minnesota to welcome back one of the greatest players to put on a Wolves uniform. The crowd was electric the entire night and they brought a playoff-like atmosphere to the game.

Now, Kevin Garnett wants to give back to the fans to thank them for such a great welcoming. The details were outlined by the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Kevin Garnett, the Big Ticket, has bought 1,000 tickets to give away to Timberwolves fans for Monday’s home game at Target Center vs. the Los Angeles Clippers as a way to say thanks to fans for their warm welcome upon his return to the team last week.

“The response and support I’ve received from Wolves fans since my return to Minnesota has been nothing short of amazing. It’s been unbelievable,” Garnett, acquired in a trade with Brooklyn, said in a statement released Sunday morning by the team. “As a gesture of thanks, I would like to treat some fans to Monday night’s game against the Clippers. Love you all, and thanks for the love. Enjoy the game on me.”

While many have said the trade for Kevin Garnett didn’t make any basketball sense, it still has brought excitement back to a team that isn’t destined to make it far this season. He also gives this young team a mentor that is greatly needed. Andrew Wiggins, especially, should try to soak up as much knowledge as possible from Garnett. If the young guys take it upon themselves to pick Garnett’s brain, then this trade could be worth it more in the end than they expected.
