Isaiah Thomas: Stephen Curry is NBA’s best point guard
In this point guard era of the NBA that most believe we’re in, Chris Paul is largely recognized as the best at the position in the league. But his competition is thickening.
Phoenix Suns guard Isaiah Thomas apparently believes that Stephen Curry now holds that title. From Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group:
Isiah Thomas told Sirius XM Stephen Curry is NBA’s best point guard. “He’s also trying to dominate you on the defensive side of the ball.”

Just a month into the season, Stephen Curry is definitely playing the best at the position right now. We’ve always known the offensive capability, but as Thomas mentioned, Curry is starting to take a more adamant approach on the defensive end. The experience with Team USA this summer seems to be having a similar effect on Curry’s teammates – James Harden, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins specifically.
Curry’s play also puts him into an extremely early MVP consideration. His Warriors are 12-2 at second place in the conference while Paul’s Clippers are 9-5 at seventh. If Stephen Curry can stay healthy and continue to lead this newly energized Warriors team, making the official jump over the Clippers might start to officially shift the top point guard conversation in Curry’s favor.
