Yesterday, the Houston Rockets fired head coach Kevin McHale after posting a 4-7 record. With the chemistry, defense and many other issues this team has had early in the season management figured to make this move sooner rather than later to save their early NBA season. He is considered to be a top option for any management position and he already has an offer 24 hours after being fired from his old job.

According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Celtics general manager and former Celtics teammate Danny Ainge has offered him a job in the front office.

“I’ve always tried to get Kevin to come work with me and work with my big guys,” said Celtic president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told the Herald…

“I told Kevin that today,” said Ainge, who is on the road scouting college games. “We’ve got a spot for him. I know we could figure something out for him in some capacity, but I think he’s just in a wait and see mode.

What Ainge said is true, McHale can definitely help out the Celtics big men like Jared Sullinger, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynk, and David Lee. McHale’s post moves and footwork was one of the best during his days on the championship Celtics squad. However, it would not shock me that he steps away from front office/coaching for a couple of months.

Another direction I can see McHale going is back into broadcasting. He had stints of working games on TNT and NBA TV part time. He is a favorite around the league so he can go anywhere if he wants the job.
