Anthony Davis went bonkers in Detroit on Sunday. In leading the Pelicans to a 111-106 win against the Pistons, Davis posted a career-high 59 points, which is also a franchise-high for the Pelicans, along with 20 rebounds. He shot 24-for-34 from the field, made both of the threes he attempted, and made 9 out of 10 free throw attempts.
Davis scored eight points in the first quarter, 18 in the second, and scored 33 of his 59 points in the second half. He had 40 points and 15 rebounds through the first three quarters.
Davis joins Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in the past 50 seasons to score 55 points and grab 2o rebounds in a game. Chris Webber had a 51-point, 26-rebound game in 2001.
Pistons F Tobias Harris on defense vs. Anthony Davis: "He didn’t score 59 points on one guy; he scored pretty much on everybody out there."
