Are you driven for the pure sport of the game? Is it fame? Is it money?
Do you play for fun, for competition, or is there an end goal that you’re striving to achieve?
Are there doubters telling you that you can’t make it? You’ll never be an elite player and you’ll never make it to the league?
Are you shutting those doubters up? Are you doing whatever it takes to make sure you achieve your goals? Waking up early, staying late in the gym, studying your opponent?
Whatever reason it is that you play the game of basketball, just make sure you remain true to it. Hold that reason sacred and keep it in the back of your mind every time that you step out on that court. We all have motives as to why we do things and must keep that in mind when we’re trying to achieve our goals. There will be bumps and detours in the road but that end goal must remain the same and you have to do whatever it takes to make it to that destination. Use that inspiration as motivation to be great. Be inspired, be humble, work hard, and be the best basketball player that you can be.
“To go from where you are to where you want to be: you have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it” – Jim Valvano
