Stephen Curry and noted irritant Patrick Beverley got into a little skirmish during the Golden State Warriors’ 104-78 Game 1 rout of the Houston Rockets on Saturday afternoon, in what proved to be a chippy contest for the duration.
About halfway through the first quarter, Beverley did his best to harass Curry and impede a drive to the basket and Curry slipped and fell. Beverley continued to swarm Curry, who took exception to it and shoved Beverley as the two got entangled.
Players from both teams ran over and the refs did a good job of defusing the situation, and Curry then proceeded to explode before being forced out of the game with an ailing ankle. Curry played only three minutes in the second half and 20 for the entire game, finishing with 24 points and 7 rebounds.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called Curry “questionable” for Game 2.
