Sources: Hasheem Thabeet Headed To Detroit

According to Marc Stein, ESPN sources say that 7-foot-3 center and former no. 2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet will be signing a non-guaranteed contract with the Detroit Pistons, making him part of their training camp roster.

The 27-year-old Thabeet spent his last two seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played in only 23 games for the Thunder last season. Thabeet was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month for trade exception and luxury tax intent.

Thabeet will have a tough time making Stan Van Gundy’s roster with the bigs on hand in Detroit. In five seasons he has yet to make a productive stand in the NBA. He could end up back in the D-League whether Detroit hangs onto him or not.
