Sources: Goran Dragic Won’t Re-Sign With Suns; Prefers Lakers, Knicks, Heat
Goran Dragic doesn’t want to stay in Phoenix after this season. The Suns point guard told team representatives that he has no future plans to re-sign with the Suns, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.
With this Thursday being the trade deadline, it is not crazy to think the Suns general manager wouldn’t try to create a last minute trade deal.
Dragic is coming off the best season of his short career averaging 20.3 points, 5.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Regardless if the Suns were to move Isaiah Thomas or Eric Bledsoe, it seems likely that Dragic would still leave. He wants to be the leader of the team and have freedom to play the game to the best of his abilities.
The teams that seem to be the frontrunners for Dragic are as follows:
The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and New York Knicks are among preferred destinations for Goran Dragic, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) February 18, 2015
ESPN sources say Rockets — for all their well-known interest in Dragic — are NOT a team likely to secure long-term commitment from the PG

Dragic, I’m told, prefers Lakers and other situations to Houston, which means Rockets would be risking lots to surrender assets for him now

Dragic has given Suns a “very short list,” per source, of teams that he would like to be traded to by Thursday.
