The Indiana Pacers this season will look completely different on the court. With guys like Jeff Teague, C.J. Miles and their former star Paul George all gone, Myles Turner looks to be the star for the foreseeable future at only 21 years old.
Despite the age, Turner believes he is ready to take the next step (from Matthew VanTryon of the Indy Star):
“I want to start establishing myself as a leader in this league and on this team,” he said. “I know I’m quite young compared to a lot of guys on this team, but the best time is to start young.”
In his first two years, Turner was sometimes as much as the second scoring option in Indiana and was one of the top defenders on the team. Now in his third year, more is expected out of Myles Turner. He looks to be the main go-to-guy, assuming the Pacers stick with what they have.
Turner now needs to lead the Indiana Pacers by example. From the quote earlier it sounds like he is already on the right track but cue the clichè “actions speak louder than words.” The offensive game is there along with his blocking ability. What he needs to improve on in his rebounding ability. Often times you see Turner hanging out outside of the paint when the shot goes up. While he can shoot the three, the 7 footer should look to be a top rebounding threat in the Eastern Conference.
Myles Turner is one of the younger players in our official Society Top 50 and looks to be the star of the Indiana Pacers. The potential here for Turner is incredible and if he can improve his rebounding and continue being a force on offense, expect a big jump in next years Society 50 ranking.
