The Phoenix Suns have been active in attempting to trade for an established point guard and have Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley as its top target, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

The Suns traded Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in a deal that brought Ryan Anderson to Phoenix. As a result, the team needs a point guard in the worst way.

Patrick Beverley averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three in his first season with the Los Angeles Clippers last year. He only played in 11 games due to a right knee injury. The Chicago native had microfracture surgery as well as meniscus surgery, but is 100 percent now.

Regarded by many as one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league, Patrick Beverley has one non-guaranteed year remaining on his deal at a little over $5 million.

The Suns have also previously discussed Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier, Cory Joseph and Spencer Dinwiddie.
