Myles Powell is one of the best players in college basketball. He currently has Seton Hall looking like a team that could win the NCAA Tournament. But, yesterday Naji Marshall and Xavier had different plans.

Today, on our Basketball Society Instagram, I posted a full defensive breakdown of the 1 on 1 matchup between Naji Marshall and Myles Powell. Naji is one of the best defenders in the nation and proved it as he held Myles in check all game.

Powell finished with only 9 points on 3/14 shooting from the field and was 1/9 from deep. The one three he hit was actually over Kyky Tandy, not Marshall. Naji was keeping up with Myles all night and the only two field goals he hit on Marshall were layups at the rim.

Seton Hall was on a 10 game winning streak coming into this game which included a win on the road against Xavier. In that game, Myles Powell was 10/21 from the floor, but again 2/8 from deep. He had more success inside the arc in that game and it would’ve benefitted him to attack the rim more in this game.

Xavier was able to get the win by a final score of 74-62. They were able to hand Seton Hall their first Big East loss in this one. Enjoy the breakdown below as we get a better idea of how exactly Naji was able to lockdown one of the best scorers we’ve seen in college basketball:
