One of the enticing prospects out of the tri-state, class of 2022 guard Roddy Gayle, has announced his commitment to Ohio State University.

Gayle, an explosive 6’4 guard out of Youngstown, New York, had narrowed down his final choices to six schools including Syracuse, UConn, Pittsburgh, Marquette, and Georgetown.

Earlier in an interview on The Front Office, Roddy said he enjoyed what he saw from the Buckeyes style of play after having been to a game. He also made reference to the atmosphere and building a “great relationship” with the staff.

When I interviewed Roddy two years ago he described his game as “pass-first”. He was visibly modest. Gayle plays unselfishly but he’s not just a passing guard. His game has blossomed into a threat at various levels, including above the rim and on both sides of the ball.

Roddy called it “relieving” to get his commitment out of the way with two seasons of high school still left. He emphasized that the Ohio State coaches were calling every day, even talking to his parents.

“It feels like a dream come true” to be a Buckeye, says Gayle.
