Markieff Morris has expressed his anger towards the Phoenix Suns this offseason and requested a trade after his brother was sent to Detroit. He made it public, and his future in Phoenix was questioned.

Training camp is about to begin and Morris is still a member of the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have been patient, and it payed off.

With the Suns season starting one month from today against the Dallas Mavericks, Morris is fully committed to the Suns. This is what Morris said to Paul Coro of azcentral.com during the Suns media day,

“I want to be here,” Morris said while wearing his Suns No. 11 jersey for media day.

“I’m looking forward to the season, not really trying to look at the past,” Morris said. “I don’t really want to talk about what I did in the summer. I really want to look forward to this up-and-coming season. Glad to be back with my teammates and glad to be back with the team.”

When asked about his discord with the front office, Morris said, “It’s between us and we’re going to deal with it.”

But does Morris really want to be in Phoenix? Morris took a pay cut and signed a 4-yr/$32 million deal last year so he could play on the same team as Marcus. Markieff felt disrespected after the trade, and took it personally because it affected his immediate family. He played his best basketball next to Marcus, and this is the first year they have ever been on different basketball teams. He sounds happy now, but it is only training camp.

The Suns need Morris this season if they even want to consider making the 2016 NBA Playoffs. He was one of the best players on the Suns last season averaging 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game per ESPN.com. They brought in Tyson Chandler from the Dallas Mavericks, so Morris is finally playing next to a true center. The Suns can make the 2016 NBA Playoffs if they get a competent Morris. Right now they do, and all season it will be a daily process.

Now that it is between the Suns and Morris, Morris will no longer go public with his anger. This will be behind closed doors, and his attitude will show their relationship. We will know when there is issues because Morris is known for having a bad attitude when he isn’t happy. No one knows how Markieff will act a whole season without Marcus on his team. Monitor the situation closely.
