Mac McClung was a sensation throughout the nation because of his outstanding dunks and unbelievable hops in High School. He’d pull out some jaw dropping in game dunks. But, that wasn’t all that McClung was capable of. For those who couldn’t go to games, that’s all that was shown to us for some time though.

McClung came to Georgetown on a mission to show everyone what he could do. Unfortunately, the team hadn’t lived up to the hype since the fit just wasn’t right in his freshman year and the start of this season. Now that the team looks different with James Akinjo gone, Mac McClung has had to take over.

And boy has he been amazing.

Mac has played three games since Akinjo’s departure from Georgetown. In the previous two games, McClung had combined for 52 points on 55% shooting from the field and 53% from deep. That included nine three point makes in those games.

Today was no different for Mac McClung as he was contributing on both ends of the court and had the hot hand again.

Watch some of his best plays here:

Mac McClung finished with 26 points on 7/16 shooting. He didn’t turn the ball over all game and consistently got to the line where he was 9/10. Expect McClung to continue to shine on this new look team as he finds more opportunities to handle the ball up top.

Georgetown was able to take down Syracuse by a score of 89-79 off of McClung’s great performance. They play UMBC next on Tuesday.
