Creighton was ranked as the number 10 team in the country coming into today’s game and has proved their worth recently with big wins over Big East leader Seton Hall and Butler. Today, they were favorited on the road against St. John’s. Greg Williams Jr. and his St. John’s teammates weren’t about to go down to Creighton again without a fight.

The Big East is very good this year and while St. John’s is 2nd to last in the conference, they have a talented squad that can play with anyone on any given night. Today, in this early matinee against Creighton, they completely outplayed their opponent.

St. John’s is led by LJ Figueroa who went for 16, 12, and 5 today. Rasheem Dunn runs the point and is one of the most underrated players in the Big East. Dunn needs to figure out his jump shot, but if he does this summer then there is certainly a chance that he could get some NBA looks.

But, the player we wish to discuss today who led St. John’s to a victory today with his shooting is Greg Williams Jr.

Greg had 21 points today, all coming from beyond the arc. Check out each of his 7 threes that he made against Creighton below:

St. John’s defeated Creighton by a score of 91-71 today. They move to 15-14 on the season and 4-12 in the Big East. They have 2 games left on their schedule on the road at Butler and back in New York to take on Marquette.

When the Red Storm are hitting their shots, they are an extremely difficult team to stop. It may take one more year for St. John’s to get back to their relevance in the Big East, but don’t be at all surprised if they can make some noise in the Big East Tournament this March.
