Class of 2018 6-foot-7 200lb versatile forward RJ Barrett, ranked #1 per 247Sports, is on his official visit to Duke this weekend (September 15th-17th). It is always a daunting task for any coach to land the #1 prospect in the country as competition is fierce.

Duke fans are salivating at the possibility that Coach K could land RJ Barrett, it would possibly give Duke the best Wing combo in the entire nation for college basketball. 2018 6’8″ 200lbs Wing Cameron Reddish, ranked #4 per 247Sports, committed to Duke on the night of September 1st. If Duke could land two top five prospects it would easily put them in contention for the #1 recruiting class for 2018.

247Sports already has Duke ranked with the #5 class for 2018 with Tre Jones committed alongside Cameron Reddish. The two would be a perfect pair with how versatile each other are both offensively and defensively. Cameron is essentially a big shooting guard that could pair beside RJ Barrett since he plays more of a traditional Small Forward type of game. The thought I like the most is them being able to switch on picks on positions 1-4, with RJ being 6-foot-7 and Cameron being 6-foot-8. The two could terrorize the nation with being able to shut down any pair of wings they come across.

Offensively you could even have one of them bring the ball up as a point forward (like Coach K did with Brandon Ingram) and run a two-man pick-and-roll game since both are great at penetrating and finishing around the rim. To create space you could have Cameron set the pick and have him fade behind the three-point line, since he is the better outside shooter in my opinion. This would create lanes for back cutters and space the floor to have another outside shooter, which we all know Duke loves to do.

We can’t forget that Tre Jones will most likely be the starting Point Guard for Duke in 2018-2019, he will be able to create to put RJ and Cameron in great scoring positions. Along with Coach K, arguably one of the best play callers in college basketball history, this could lead to a high-powered offense that is hard to stop. If Coach K is able to get RJ to commit, Duke could have the best back court in college basketball for 2018-2019.
