Russell Westbrook’s uncanny blend of athleticism and explosiveness at the point guard position makes him a marvel to watch, and thanks to his unique genetic disposition he’s good for at least one breathtaking play per night.
Westbrook recorded one of these outbursts in the first quarter of Oklahoma City’s 122-106 win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night when he split the Suns’ soft double-team, got to the proverbial launching pad and then rocked the rim with a vicious slam. Nasty stuff.
Phoenix hung tough with the 3rd best team in the Western Conference, but too much Kevin Durant and Westbrook late staved off the victory-deprived Suns, who have now lost eight games in a row.
Westbrook finished the victory with 29 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, while Durant poured in 32 points of his own and snagged down six boards.
