iThe Lakers picked up their first win of the season on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers won their first game of the season Sunday night and now NBA legend Charles Barkley can chow down on a big juicy burger after vowing not to eat until the Lakers won a game. It must’ve been a brutal stretch for Sir Charles without food, but it had been an even uglier one for the Lakers, who had dropped their first 5 games of the season by an average margin of 14.8 points per game.

Jeremy Lin lead the Los Angeles Lakers with 21 points (8-12 FG,) 7 assists and 3 rebounds, and Kobe Bryant chipped in 21 points (7-20 FG,) 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the 107-92 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

The Lakers used a third quarter surge to gain the upper hand on the Hornets, winning the third frame 34-13. Laker big men Jordan Hill, Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer combined for 38 points and 16 rebounds, and Hill had 7 assists of his own.

Al Jefferson finished with 23 points (10-23 FG,) and 8 rebounds, and guard Kemba Walker had 17 points (7-11 FG,) and 4 assists for the Hornets. Charlotte’s offensive struggles continued, as they shot only 44% from the field and 21% from three against a terrible Lakers defense.

Lakers forward Ed Davis had some harsh words for Barkley on Twitter after the victory.

Jeremy Lin’s message after the game had a much friendlier tone.

The Lakers will take on the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on Tuesday, and the Hornets road trip will continue as they take on the Blazers Tuesday.
