George Hill was the hero for Indiana.
The Indiana Pacers had lost six straight games prior to Wednesday night, and it appeared as if they were on their way to a seventh straight defeat against the Washington Wizards.
Indiana had trailed Washington by 10 points with around six minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the slumping Pacers mounted a comeback that was capped-off by George Hill’s game-winning layup with 2.7 seconds left.
Hill scored 12 of his 29 points in the final frame, and Indiana escaped Washington by the skin of their teeth. When asked postgame about his interesting defensive approach (Marcin Gortat was not on the floor for Washington) to the Pacers’ final possession of the game, Wizards coach Randy Wittman had this to say:
“I don’t trust these guys to do any switching” Wait What?!?!

“Gortat wouldn’t have been able to protect the rim…we wanted our most agile guys out there…With Gortat we would’ve given up a 3”

This is how Wizards fans surely feel about this questionable explanation from Wittman:
Washington has now lost four straight games.
