Before Metta World Peace, there was World B. Free — holder of quite possibly the coolest name in the history of the NBA. A mid-range killer, Lloyd Free was one of the most vibrant personalities in the Association… And he got buckets. His game was considered All-World on the rough blacktops of New York City (Brooklyn to be exact). Swag personified, gold-chain swinging on each high arching jump shot, Free was 70’s cool in human form.
Check out this vintage clip of Free handling his handle against the eventual World Champion Los Angeles Lakers, led by a then rookie Magic Johnson & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
