Confidence isn’t directly related to talent. Sometimes there are players who have an incredibly confident attitude, but don’t bring the talent to the table.
Whether we like it or not, these players with so much confidence, while usually very cocky, are a joy to watch. Here is my list of the 5 players in the NBA with the most confidence:
5. Mario Hezonja
Yes, Hezonja is entering the NBA as a rookie, but he’s one with loads and loads of confidence. In his international games alone, you can tell that Hezonja plays every game with a cocky playing style.
Just the other day, Hezonja was seen nailing a 3 while up 12 with only a couple seconds left in the game, then turning around and dapping up the opposing coach. The kid is going to have an attitude of a 10x All-Star as soon as he gets into the league.
4. Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook plays with the utmost confidence. Considering that he wants to take the last shot over KD, I think it’s pretty obvious that Westbrook would have to be on this list.
Russell will sometimes shoot under 30% in a game and turnover the ball continuously, but then come right back the next game and shoot 20 or 30 shots once again. That kind of confidence is rare.
3. Nick Young
You gotta love Swaggy P’s demeanor during games. The simple notion (which he has now changed his mind on) that he must keep his right arm strictly for buckets is amazing.
Nick Young will continue to shoot even if he’s not feeling it on a given night. Not often do you see Young going in and giving off a great pass or showcasing a good defensive presence. Young is about getting his buckets, and he has it in his head that he can do that as well as anyone else in the league.
2. Tony Allen
We all know about Tony Allen screaming during the playoffs last year, “1st Team Defense” consecutively in the Grizzlies’ series against the Warriors. Keep in mind that Allen also said that he’s faced players like Curry before and that he was no big deal.
Is that a bit arrogant? Maybe, but you gotta love the confidence Allen has in himself, especially on defense.
1. Kobe Bryant
Kobe will forever be one of the most confident players to ever play the game. Jordan would be right there alongside Bryant.
Kobe still believes the Lakers are capable of making the playoffs and that he can still be one of the best players in the NBA. Don’t ever try to talk trash to Kobe because he will turn that confidence he has in his game, into his killer instinct.
