NBA Player Comparison: Brad Miler
Frank Kaminsky was incredible this past year. He improved in every facet of his game and helped his Badgers reach the NCAA Championship Game. Throughout the year, Kaminsky used a variety of post-moves that were unstoppable against the less experienced and less talented post defenders. This made it easy for Frank to score and opened up his perimeter game because opponents feared his paint play.
Like most other college players, the defense is a big concern. For Kaminski, it’s a concern because of his lack of size more than anything else. He will need to put on at least 10 or 15 pounds of muscle to be able to keep the tougher 4 or 5s off the block. Kaminski’s offense will be there and his ability to hit the long range shot with such efficiency at his height is just remarkable.
Many have considered Frank Kaminski as the next Pau Gasol to come into the league, but that comparison is more wishful thinking than anything else. Kaminski plays more like Brad Miller. Miller was a great shooter in his day for a player of his stature. Kaminski has a similar knockdown jumper, but also has an impressive post-game, as mentioned which separates him from Brad Miller. Frank Kaminksi doesn’t have the athleticism or defensive ability to be as good as Gasol, but can be a solid NBA contributor either as a starter or one of the first big men off the bench.
