We at Basketball Society reported yesterday that Scott Skiles was one of the leading candidates for the New Orleans Pelicans coaching vacancy.
You can take Skiles name off of that list. It seems like he will be the new head coach of the Orlando Magic at today’s end.

Hearing that the Magic, if they have their way, will have a deal with Scott Skiles to be their new head coach by day’s end

If the deal goes through, this would be a great signing for the Magic. They fired coach Jacques Vaughn back in early February and needed some new blood in the organization. A team that had a coach with no real signs that were trending upwards, they have been bottom feeders in the Eastern Conference for the past couple of seasons.
Skiles has had playoff success in the past with the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls. The Magic are a young team that would tremendously feed off the defensive mind that Skiles brings to the table.
Skiles was a player for the Orlando Magic from the years 1989-1994. He is best known for his NBA record 30 assist game he recorded in 1990 against the Denver Nuggets.
