According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the Lakers were among the teams looking to trade for Dion Waiters.

It seems as though the Lakers were just offering Sacre to fulfill Cleveland’s needs for a Center and then they were willing to relieve some salary space. The Cavs ended up moving Waiters to the Thunder and they also received Shumpert and J.R. Smith from the Knicks in a three-team trade.

Dion Waiters on the Lakers would make three players who all love to chuck the ball on one team. Not only do they like to chuck, but they all have some pretty big egos too. Kobe, Nick Young, and Waiters on one team would have been very fun to watch though. Just imagine if all of these guys got hot on the same night. Points would be raining in from everywhere on the court while they all celebrate and then they would give us some kind of crazy quote in a postgame interview. Obviously the trade that happened bolstered the cases for the Thunder and Cavs to make the finals, but if the Lakers pulled this one off then the entertainment at the Staples Center would skyrocket.

We’ll have to settle for the antics of “Swaggy P” and Kobe for now, and the Waiters show is moving to OKC. This will still make things interesting in the West. OKC started in a hole, but they’re scratching their way up the standings and now that they have yet another shooter on the team they could be rising in the standings even quicker. Meanwhile, the Cavs got a defensive minded guard and another shooter as well. Sorry Lakers fans, no more big egos for you right now.
