UConn phenom freshman Paige Bueckers is the real deal according to all who’ve crossed her path. She was the no. 1 overall recruit for Geno Auriemma and she falls into the line of UConn greats such as Breanna Stewart, Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Diana Taurasi, and Sue Bird.
Rutgers freshman guard Liz Martino gave Paige her flowers when she joined Protect Our Queens to talk about her upcoming debut season with the Scarlet Knights and more.
When asked about some of the toughest players she’s had to guard, two players came up: Paige Bueckers and Diamond Johnson.
She gave me a run for my money for sure, she’s quick. She’s very smart, her IQ is very high.
Bueckers is getting ready to make her freshman debut for the UConn Huskies this afternoon.
Liz also threw Baylor freshman guard Sarah Andrews into the mix. When it came to her former AAU teammate Diamond Johnson, Liz described her as unstoppable because of her handle, quickness, and shooting.
Diamond and Liz now have two games under their belt for the Scarlet Knights. Both scored in double figures off the bench in the season opener against Monmouth. Diamond added another double-figure outing with 17 points in their win at Wisconsin on Friday.
