If you were to tell me the Boston Celtics would be in the playoffs in 2015, I would think you were insane. If you told me the Celtics were an option for big name free agents at the end of the 2015 season, I would assume you have never watched a basketball game before. In the 2014-2015 season, the Boston Celtics made the playoffs and their jumpstart in their rebuilding mode has made them an option for big name free agents. The Celtics exceeded expectations which no one was expecting.
At the trade deadline, the Boston Celtics struck a deal with the Phoenix Suns to acquire point guard Isaiah Thomas. Boston and Thomas have been a perfect match from the start. Thomas averaged 19 points per game in 21 games all off the bench. His offensive explosion surged the Celtics into the playoffs. The Celtics time in the playoffs didn’t last long as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.
The Celtics are a young team with a young coach heading in the right direction. Now that we are in the offseason, Danny Ainge, President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics, asked Isaiah Thomas to recruit players to play for the Celtics. The Celtics have the money to spend a max contract for a max free agent and Danny Ainge said the Celtics are in game for all the big named free agents. Isaiah Thomas has reached out to all of them.
It all started with LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge was caught on camera at Logan Airport in Boston. Isaiah Thomas took to Twitter to welcome a the star to Beantown.

Another star free agent is Kevin Love. His shoulder was dislocated by Celtics center Kelly Olynyk in the first round of the playoffs, but Love has no hard feelings. He has been rumored he was staying and leaving Cleveland. If he leaves, Thomas wants to be his teammate.
Boston is nothing but LOVE!

Then Thomas started to have some fun. He realizes there is a hole at the center position and the best free agent center on the market is Marc Gasol.
Going to Spain next week. Maybe I run into a really talented big man LOL

The Celtics need to have an aggressive offseason and Isaiah Thomas has been aggressive as a recruiter to max level free agents. With a weak Eastern Conference, a star player in Boston could move the Celtics up the ranks in the conference. Isaiah knows that and so do opposing players around the NBA.
Throughout Thomas’ time in the NBA, Thomas has fallen in love with the City of Boston. Thomas knows what it means to be a Celtic and has embraced every minute of it. He knows the Celtics will be contenders sooner rather then later, but that won’t happen unless more stars come to Boston. He wants star players to know what it means to be a Celtic and embrace playing for the City of Boston. Let the games begin. Free agency starts July 1st, 2015.
