In his 4th NBA season, Damian Lillard averaged 25.1 points, 6.8 assists, and 4 rebounds per game as he led the underestimated Portland Trail Blazers to 44 wins and the Western Conference’s 5th seed in the postseason. Portland managed to upend the injury-riddled Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs, which set the stage for a duel with Stephen Curry and the 73-win Golden State Warriors in the Conference Semifinals.

Although the Blazers were ousted by GSW in five games, they secured the entire league’s respect with their gritty and hard-nosed play, and will prove to be one of the league’s most compelling watches this year. With free-agent additions such as Evan Turner and Festus Ezeli in addition to the retention of their own guys Allen Crabbe and CJ McCollum, Portland will look to take another unexpected leap forward in the 2016-17 campaign, one that is shepherd by Lillard.
