Zenni Optical, the Official Eyewear Partner of the Chicago Bulls, today announced its new community program, “Framing the Future,” a multi-year initiative with the Bulls and Chicago Park District to enhance the Park Kids After School Program that impacts thousands of local kids each year.

“Framing the Future” will launch on December 12, marking the first step toward achieving Zenni’s goal to distribute free glasses to thousands of children in Chicago during the brand’s partnership with the team. With the implementation of this initiative, Zenni intends to both provide affordable eyewear and eye protection to the community and educate families on the importance of eye health through engaging youth programming, as well as enhance areas within Chicago Park District facilities across the city. Each student in the program this year will receive a gift card for a pair of Zenni glasses including prescription, their signature Blokz or sunglasses.

“One of the most significant aspects of partnering with the Chicago Bulls was to help make a difference in the Chicagoland community,” Zenni Brand Marketing Officer Sean Pate said.

“We feel very strongly about teaching young people the importance of eye health, but we want to do so in a way that really connects with them more than facts and figures might. We’re very excited to collaborate with the Bulls and Chicago Park District to roll out special experiences and enhancements to local parks to show how much the city means to the Zenni team.”

The program will tip-off on December 12 with a pep rally at Fosco Park, where Benny the Bull will debut his own children’s book for storytime with 200 students from the Park Kids After School Program. The kids will then have a chance to meet with some of their favorite Bulls players, receive customized Zenni/Benny branded glasses and a copy of the educational book, and be fitted (no prescription required) for Blokz, Zenni’s signature lenses that provide protection from harmful blue light. “One of the many reasons we launched a partnership with Zenni was because of our shared values and commitment to the community,” said Matt Kobe, Vice President of Business Strategy & Analytics. “We look forward to supporting the Park Kids After School Program and joining Zenni’s mission to educate Chicagoland youth about the importance of eye health throughout the year.

During the program, Zenni and the Bulls will expand their impact on Chicago Park District after-school programming beyond storytime, including hosting fitness classes, screening movies based on Bulls players’ favorites from their childhoods, refurbishing outdoor basketball courts with custom designs, establishing reading areas and programs at various parks throughout the city and more. At least one park will host a special event lasting through the end of the NBA season that will culminate in a “Blokz Party” in June for the thousands of kids in the Park Kids After School Program.
