Finishing 5th in the Western Conference last year was a solid step in the right direction for the Memphis Grizzlies. The teams ahead of them were all deservedly higher ranked teams due to the fact of who was on their roster. But, the Memphis Grizzlies have a solid roster of good and some even great players that should carry them back into contention again this season.
This offseason the Grizzlies made minimal moves, but improved their bench and shooting with the acquisition of Matt Barnes. They still have one of the league’s best front-courts with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. With them, they can still compete with any team.
What should fans look forward to this season?
The fans in Memphis should look forward to the Grizzlies making a true playoff push this year. Last year they had a great series win against a good Portland team, but eventually got stuck playing the all-mighty Warriors in the conference semi-finals.
If they are seeded well going into the playoffs, Memphis can make a run at the Finals. They are still a little inexperienced, as most of the players on this roster haven’t won a title. An underrated move they made a couple of years back was acquiring Vince Carter — his veteran leadership alone helps this roster.

PG- Mike Conley
SG- Courtney Lee
SF- Jeff Green
PF- Zach Randolph
C- Marc Gasol
Who can emerge as a star?
Mike Conley has yet to make an All-Star team. He has the ability to be one of the best point guards and has shown his excellent play in the playoffs for the past two seasons. He has improved every season statistically since coming into the league, with his best seasons being when he stays healthy. If he can keep his health in check, expect him to lead this Grizzlies team deep into the playoffs.
