The Breakdown:

Kemba Walker has always been known as a dynamic scorer. He has shown the ability to create his own shot with taking the ball to the basket, but also creating space for his jump shot. Who can forget this unforgettable step-back against in the Big East Championship at Madison Square Garden? They call him Cardiac Kemba for a reason.

Kemba has become a very efficient and consistent player over the last two seasons. He averaged a career high in all three major offensive categories of ppg (23.2), FG% (44.4), and 3PT% (39.9). His quick speed and ability to create amazing dribble moves has made him one of the most respected scorers in the NBA.

When we dive into some even deeper statistics on Kemba, the improvement seems scary for a guy who really is in the midst of his prime basketball years. In the 2016-17 season, it showed that Kemba has stepped out of his range when it comes to isolation basketball. On three point field goals that were unassisted, he shot a whopping 48.8%. That is a significant increase from last year’s 39.9%, which was a previous career high. Kemba showed the ability to create an efficient jump shot off the dribble and is only looking to improve.

Even though all of this success for Kemba is a positive for the Hornets, he has to keep up the consistency on both sides of the floor. Even though he produced a DRtg of 111 last year, Kemba has a ton of responsibility on the offensive side of the floor, causing his defense to lack. He also needs to show some improvement on his mid-range ability. Last year only .065% of his shots came from 3-10 ft and .073% of his shots came from 10-16ft. He only shot 33% on those shots from 3-10 ft and 38% on the shots from 10-16 ft. Overall, if he just becomes more consistent in the mid-range and on the defensive side of the floor, there is no telling where Kemba can go from here.

Kemba Walker has honestly become one of the more enjoyable players to watch in the NBA. His game represents that of a lion being let out of its cage and is ready to show fury. He leaves it all on the floor for 40+ minutes a night and gives the people of Charlotte some truly great basketball to watch.
