iKyrie Irving was on fire last night.

In a battle of two powerhouses last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers prevailed over the San Antonio Spurs 128-125 in an overtime thriller. The dazzling offensive display put on by both teams made for the best regular-season game of the year, and as we are given time to process what we witnessed, possibly one of the best in the past several years.

Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving ascended to heights one could only dream of reaching in their career, pouring in a career-high 57 points in the victory, shooting an insanely efficient 20-32 from the field, 7-7 from three and 10-10 from the free-throw line. Most of Irving’s attempts were contested, but the tight defense was all for naught. Irving connected on the toughest of shots, demonstrating that he’s one of the Association’s best scorers. Let’s watch Uncle Drew go to work shall we?

With his ridiculous scoring binge, Irving etched his name into the record books, becoming the first player since Kobe Bryant with multiple 55-point games in a single regular-season. And in addition to setting a new franchise record, Irving’s 57 points were the most scored against any Gregg Popovich coached team.

Irving not only set the nets in San Antonio ablaze, but he also sent social media into a craze as well. NBA players were reacting to Irving’s insanity, and many were in disbelief themselves.
