Ty Lawson might be a great pickup for Indiana

We can admit, Ty Lawson was horrible for the Houston Rockets on and off the court. What seemed to be one of the best offseason pickups this past summer, turned out to be a flat out bust. While playing in Houston he had career lows in points (5.8), assists (3.4) and shooting percentage (38.7 %).

Turns out he has another chance to revive his disastrous season as he will be suiting up for the Indiana Pacers for the rest of the year, from the Pacers official team press release:

“We’re glad to have Ty come play with the Pacers for this final run of the season,” said Pacers’ President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “We think he brings added speed to our backcourt, he can get up and down the floor and he helps strengthen our second unit.”

With George Hill, Monta Ellis, Joseph Young and Rodney Stuckey already on the roster it’ll be tough for Lawson to earn minutes. If he shows flashes of his days on the Nuggets, this has the potential top be a sneaky move for the Pacers. Larry Bird and company will definitely try and will get the best out of Lawson for the final stretch of the season.

The Indiana Pacers are currently the 7th seed in the East with a 33-30 record. The Pistons, Bulls and Wizards are also fighting for those final two spots so adding a scoring guard to your bench can help you have the advantage against the other teams.
