According to the New York Post, Matt Barnes, now on the Memphis Grizzlies, drove 95 miles to “beat the s–t” out of Derek Fisher.

Matt Barnes, who was at training camp with the Memphis Grizzlies, was tipped off that Derek Fisher was at the house of Barnes’ ex-wife Gloria Govan. Barnes’ twin sons called him and told him that Fisher showed up at the house that Barnes and Govan used to share.

“Barnes went crazy. He got in his car and went to the house and went after Fisher,” one source said. “Matt then drove down there to beat the s–t out of him.”

The fight reportedly took place at 11:45 PM when Barnes came back to interrupt a bonfire that Govan, Fisher, and friends were having at the time. Barnes then texted his friend about the fight afterwards, via the New York Post:

“I kicked his ass from the back yard to the front room, and spit in her face,” the text read, according to the source.

A source close to Fisher confirmed the fight, but insisted it wasn’t as one-sided as Barnes claimed.

“Matt came after Derek, but he only had a few scratches,” the source said. “Derek’s not going to press charges; he’s going to let it go.”

The NBA is now investigating this fight.

This entire situation is one of the funniest happenings in the NBA this season, and we’re not even through the whole preseason. We all know that Barnes has that “bad boy” attitude, and he’s been fined on and off the court for that behavior. Also, no one would really be surprised if Barnes go into an altercation on the court. However, now they’re taking it to the streets!

There are so many unanswered questions about this scuffle. Why was Fisher all the way in Los Angeles when the Knicks had a game at the Garden in a couple days? Did Barnes leave in the middle of a practice? The biggest question of them all is how will this effect the Grizzlies and Knicks games this season? Those are going to be some heated matchups, but the first game between the two isn’t until January. So, we’ll just have to wait and see how this drama unfolds for now.
