Carlos Boozer: Lakers have a chance for 8th spot
The Los Angeles Lakers had a historically bad start to the season at 1-9. They’re 3-10 after losing to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night (and giving up 140 points). Forward Carlos Boozer was one of the new additions for the Lakers in the offseason. Apparently he feels this team is chasing contention for a final playoff spot in the West.
Carlos Boozer: “We still have a chance to catch up to that 8th spot. That’s what we’re fighting for.” (on TWC)

Boozer definitely has to say this for competitive reasons, plus he has to see Kobe Bryant at work every day. But come on. The Lakers would have to pull off another miracle of an acquisition to put themselves in the conversation as a potential 8th seed in the conference. The kind of teams that might possibly be vying for that position when the time comes — Phoenix, New Orleans, Sacramento… the Lakers can’t hang.
The eighth-seeded team in the Western Conference will have around 40 wins. Just try and focus on that, Boozer.
