Isaiah Thomas had TD Garden on fire as he dropped a career high 42 points to put the Boston Celtics over the Atlanta Hawks, 111-103. In a series where you wondered where the scoring would come from for Boston, Thomas took over and made himself the go-to guy.

“I was just in attack mode,” Thomas said. “I was just trying to do what I could to win the game.”

This type of performance is what the Celtics will need to overturn this series back in their favor. They now see themselves down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks with another game back in Boston on Sunday. Isaiah Thomas was very efficient, shooting 12-24 from the field as well as 5-12 from behind the arc. He also got help from Amir Johnson who had 15 points and 7 rebounds and Evan Turner who also put in 17 points, 7 assists, and 5 big steals.

For Atlanta, Jeff Teague led all scorers with 23 points and Kent Bazemore and Dennis Schroder also added 20 points of their own. They made things interesting as they fought a 20 point deficit with a 12-0 run, but every effort they made to come back, the Celtics were there with an answer which ultimately led to their much needed victory.
