Seton Hall guard Isaiah Whitehead will enter the 2016 NBA Draft, as Pirates head coach Kevin Willard confirmed to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv. Whitehead just experienced a breakout season, particularly with his performance leading Seton Hall to their first Big East conference title in over a decade. The 21-year-old prospect is currently listed at no. 30 overall on Chad Ford’s big board on ESPN.com.
Zagoria notes that Whitehead isn’t confirmed to be hiring an agent. If he does so, he won’t have the option to return to school in 2016-17, but if he doesn’t, the new rule change allows underclassmen to declare and participate in the combine while still maintaining their college eligibility. Whitehead can test the waters at the combine and still withdraw from the draft, but only if he chooses not to hire representation.
Whitehead averaged 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 34 games this season.
