The 2016 Rio Olympics are in full swing, offseason NBA news is slowly coming in, and the talk of super teams is alive and well. For the return of Fisch’s Friday Rant, I just had to put on my ranting face and get some things off of my chest about all of these current topics.
First, the Men’s team competing at the Olympics is starting to look very beatable. We’ve been lucky to watch some amazing teams between the Dream Team and the Redeem Team. This year, however, there are no LeBron’s or Jordan’s, and the last couple games have been close ones. Let’s not only give respect and heckle the men though. Our women’s team has been quietly dominating their side of the Olympic games. Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird have been nothing short of amazing and everyone needs to stop being ignorant about the women’s game.
Next, it’s time to talk about LeBron and the huge contract that he just agreed to. He’s deserving of the money, but the “excuses” of having to team up with superstars need to stop. The super team discussion is getting old, and it doesn’t help that a lot of the fans are flip flopping on their stance.
Finally, to finish things off, some players are deciding to pull a Brett Favre. Look, stop ring chasing and just stay in retirement. Except for you Ray Allen, and that’s only because you’re Jesus Shuttlesworth.
