University of Kentucky star Jamal Murray declared for the 2016 NBA Draft. Kentucky has sent a freshman into the NBA every year since 2009.

Murray said at a press conference,

“It’s just the right decision,”

Murray is the first Wildcat to declare for the draft. Skal Labissiere and Tyler Ulis are Murray’s teammates expected to follow him to the draft.

There are many teams in the lottery who will be interested in Murray’s services. He is expected to be selected outside the top-4. The Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors are projected to have those picks and need a combo guard.

Murray averaged 20 points per game in 2015-2016. The only game he did not score 11 or more points was Nov. 14, 2015 when he scored eight points against New Jersey Institute of Technology.
