The Sixers don’t have a ton of room on their team as of right now if you include the players they will be drafting but they do have the pieces they can move and draft picks they can move on draft night and through out the off-season. The Sixers are already rumored to be talking with the Atlanta Hawks about sending Nerlens Noel over to the Hawks for Jeff Teague and were rumored about talking with the Hawks during the NBA Trade Deadline back in February. If you look around the NBA there are teams out there that are in need of young big men or young wing players. Here are some teams the Sixers should be calling during draft night and this off-season.
Washington Wizards
The Wizards got by with Nene’s offense for the last four seasons, but this year, the team found itself well out of playoff contention while Nene was having the worst season of his career. He’ll need to be replaced soon if Washington wants to compete during John Wall’s prime, and Bradley Beal’s impending free agency offers them a unique opportunity to do just that. The Sixers need shooting desperately and needs a true shooting guard. A sign-and-trade would improve the Wizard’s interior scoring, giving Philly a good free agent shooter they’ve been unable to land the past few off seasons. Now the money part for Beal. Beal has been hurt and in my opinion doesn’t deserve a max contract just yet in his young career. He is only 22 years old so he has time to earn that max money. I would give him less than the max and deal Jahlil Okafor or Nerlens Noel over to the Wizards for Bradley Beal. Beal would definitely give this team a lift it needs in shooting and space the floor for whoever the big men are down low.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics are frontrunners in just about any trade imaginable, seeing as they love blockbuster deals, have multiple talented guards and a lot of valuable draft picks. The Celtics currently own the 3rd pick overall in this years draft and the Celtics do have big men but not the type who are going to help them get to that next level. Kelly Olynyk was hurt during last season along with Jared Sullinger. A guy like a Noel or Okafor could help this team out down low. The attention Isaiah Thomas gets when he drives to the basket and maybe leaving a guy like Noel or Okafor open could help them offensively. Plus, off of the big man down low the Celtics can now start getting more shooters on their team. The Sixers getting the 3rd pick overall from the Celtics would help them out too. The Sixers could go in so many directions as they could get one of the top guards in the draft in Buddy Hield or Kris Dunn. If I was the Sixers, I would trade down again a pick or two and the likes of a Kris Dunn might still be there. Plus, you could add another draft pick. If Dunn isn’t there at 4th pick or 5th pick, I would take Jamal Murray from Kentucky.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Guards, as I call them as they are loaded with guards almost every year but not very loaded with good big men. This would be a great team for the Sixers to call. Tyson Chandler is 33 years old and Alex Len hasn’t lived up to what he could be. Also Jon Leuer and Mirza Teletovic are both free agents this off-season for the Suns. If you add a big man like Okafor or Noel into their line up it could definitely help the young Suns down the road. Plus, Tyson Chandler who is a veteran player that could take Noel or Okafor under his wing and help them improve as players on and off the court. If I’m the Suns I’m calling the Sixers and offering Brandon Knight or if the Sixers really want to aim high and go after Eric Bledsoe, who yes has been hurt, but the Sixers could offer one of the big men and throw in a draft pick too.
