Early in his career Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin had carved out a reputation as a freak athlete that would hammer home the most devastating dunks on any opposing defender.
As Griffin’s game has matured in the NBA, he’s made it a point to preserve his body by adding a mid-range game, as he had grown tired of constantly taking shots from the opposition as they tried their best to avoid getting victimized by Griffin.
Well in Game 1 of the Clippers’ first round series against the San Antonio Spurs, Griffin scrapped the jumpers and unleashed hell on Spurs big man Arron Baynes, throwing down three absurd jams in the 3rd quarter.
Griffin was dominant in the 107-92 win, dropping 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists, powering the Clippers to a Game 1 victory.
This series is expected to be the best of all the first round matchups, and Sunday’s game backed up that suspicion. Game 2 is Wednesday, and fans are already looking forward to it. If each game is as great as the first, this series may be a classic.
