Tyson Chandler feels bad for Carmelo Anthony

Tyson Chandler and the Dallas Mavericks faced off against the New York Knicks Tuesday night and it wasn’t pretty for the Knicks. The Dallas Mavericks defeated the New York Knicks 107-87 to improve to 18-8 on the season while the Knicks have fallen to 5-22 and continue to be irrelevant in the weak Eastern Conference. After the game, Tyson Chandler commented on how he feels regarding Carmelo playing on a non contender:

“I do (feel bad for him) because he’s a competitor,” said Chandler, “I laced them up and went to battle with him for the last three years and know what kind of competitor he is.”

“I know he wants to win, and I know he’s going to take a lot of this heat. And it’s unfortunate because he’s a hell of a player in our league. It’s just unfortunate.”

Carmelo Anthony has to feel frustrated with how the Knicks are playing this year. It’s not that he is the only player on the team putting the effort in each and every night, but the Knicks simply do not have the talent to win too many games this year.

Tyson Chandler was given a way out when he was traded to the Mavericks in the offseason and maybe Carmelo will get that same opportunity this year before the February 19th trade deadline. This is not to say that Anthony wants to get traded, but his talent and competitiveness should not be wasted on a team that can’t win games.
