On this episode of the Schmidt Talking podcast, Kyle and Alec discuss a ton of topics. First, they dive into the topic of favorite Atlantic 10 venue. We all know the big ones like Dayton, St Louis, UMASS, but one gym that has been authentic and gets loud for being a small gym is St. Joesph’s Hagan Arena. Kyle reminisces on this time as a young kid watching the Bonnies there as he grew up in Philadelphia and all of the great games he saw.
Later in the episode, the guys cover a big topic in Bonnies basketball, and that’s Kyle Lofton’s Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors. He followed up fellow New Jersey freshman star Osun Osunniyi with the award. He averaged 22 points over the two road wins vs. UMASS and Richmond. Lofton has been a huge bright spot for this team and their future.
Lastly, Alec and Kyle discuss the best Atlantic 10 game of the year last year in the 117-113 3OT thriller vs. Davidson where the Bonnies prevailed. This year, the team is much different but the result can still be the same as the Bonnies take on the Wildcats Friday, 2/1 at 7 pm on ESPN2 in the Reilly Center.
