Finally!! The moment that not only the Laker Nation has been waiting for but the rest of the NBA as well. The debut of LeBron James wearing a Lakers jersey.

Who cares if it is a preseason game, as a basketball fan you have to get a little amped up about your team playing in organized competition.

The Lakers started off their pre-season campaign Sunday night where they took on the Denver Nuggets at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA. The Lakers fell by a score of 124-107 in the first game, and then came up just short in the second game versus the Nuggets, losing 113-111 in the Staples Center debut.

Although both were losses, hear what Basketball Society members and co-hosts BJ Boyer and Randy King liked from what they saw out of the first two games from the Lakers.

The passing has been excellent. The unselfishness was good to see, almost too much pasivity at times. I’m excited to see how eager the Lakers are sharing the ball and moving the ball to not look for a good shot but a great shot. I’ve been very impressed with JaVale McGee, he’s exceeded my expectations just in terms of the way he’s looked.” – BJ Boyer

The pace, I loved. I loved Rondo with the 11 assists. Ingram and Lebron looked pretty well together, they have a good connection going on. Kuzma was good on offense at the five. Lance’s (Stephenson) isolation skills, that was another good aspect from what I saw. The willingness to pass from all five players on the court.” – Randy King

Now, of course, the Lakers did lose the game, but it is preseason and mistakes happen. Here are some takeaways that our hosts saw as negatives from this weeks early slate of games thus far.

Defensively, I feel like we leaked out without securing the ball which led to a lot of second chance points. We gave up 12 offensive rebounds in the second game. That is just unacceptable.” – Randy King

I’m concerned with the first two games we saw, that when we go small Kyle Kuzma plays at center and when he plays against centers with more girth and physicality I’m worried that he will get in foul trouble, simply not being able to stop guys, and I’m worried about him exerting too much energy defensively that it impacts his offense.” – BJ Boyer

There was much more of a discussion that Boyer and King went into in this episode. After they discussed the Denver games, they then looked ahead to the Sacremento Kings game (which was played last night before recording) and the Los Angeles Clippers game which will be held on Saturday the 6th and what to expect in those games.

Listen to everything that these two Laker diehards had to say as we invite you to spend yet another evening inside of the Lakers Lair. Enjoy!
