Knicks Notes: Trade Talks and Draft Picks

The Now

How did we get here? Well, after a super disappointing season, we followed it up with more trade talk surrounding TWO of our best players. Kristaps Porzingis is now reportedly in the mix. A move of this magnitude would sum up the history of the organization. It would be the epitome of a ‘Knicks trade’. Just when we thought it couldn’t get much worse, we’re now scheming ways to get PJ out The Garden. The casual fan can’t help but wonder if Phil is doing this on purpose. It’s almost as if he’s trying to out sabotage himself against previous mishaps.

Instead of focusing on key issues with our questions at point guard/center, we’re fielding phone calls for our forwards. It comes as no surprise that we’re all wondering what’s next for Melo. He and Phil have clearly not seen eye to eye and doesn’t seem to be changing. The popular opinion here is to trade him and try to obtain something in return. Melo is past his prime (although still extremely effective) and the Knicks are looking to start over. Or are they?

The clear direction (it seemed) was to build around Kristaps Porzingis being that the team actually owned their draft pick this year. Acquire more pieces. But no. While the Sixers, Celtics, and Lakers are making plays to get stars, the Knicks are dealing them. I’m sure if you look up the term ‘backward’ in the dictionary, you’ll see the Knicks logo.

The Questions

What direction could we be possibly headed in? Why are we letting Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah off the hook? The team has not specifically addressed what will happen with Derrick Rose. In addition, it appears they’ll be stuck with that large contract given to Noah. It’s not likely that another team runs knocking at their doors to absorb such a high-risk low-reward price tag. There’s been more drama surrounding the Knicks best players than those they have questions about. The organization is clearly in need of new leadership on all levels. The culture has been contaminated for years and it may have peaked now in toxicity.

The Draft

Not only do we not have direction with our current players, we’re up in arms about upcoming players. Here’s a look at the players the Knicks have been reportedly interested in for tomorrow’s draft:
I guess there’s only but so much you can plan for with the 8th pick, but sheesh.
Be prepared for everything. Also, be prepared for nothing. This offseason can go left really fast, but what’s worse than this?
