Durant has a fractured right foot and the NBA's MVP seems likely to be sidelined for at least the start of the season. It was only a year ago when Kevin Durant was named the NBA MVP and it seems like ages ago. The main reason is because Kevin Durant played only 27 NBA games this past season due to a jones fracture in his right foot, a brief setback since that illustrious 2013-2014 season. We have been missing Durant’s greatness on the basketball court.

“We have to come together and play as one, and that’s harder than people realize. But we’re ready to take on the challenge. We’re under the radar, exactly where we want to be, and looking forward to having a good season. And yes, I’m still the best player in the world.” said Durant.

The player that is usually compared to Durant’s greatness is LeBron James. There is no doubt as to why they are compared so closely together. Their numbers are so similar even with Durant coming into the league four years later.

When he was healthy last year, Durant was still sticking with LeBron. Durant put up a season high 44 points vs. the Phoenix Suns and averaged 25.4 ppg in the 27 games he played.

Durant having to sit out most of the season really put a chip on his shoulder similar to the one James Harden put on his own shoulder when he called himself the best in the league before last season.

As for my opinion, I am just not sure who is the best in the league. Stephen Curry has a place in the argument as the reigning 2015 NBA MVP as well as winning an NBA title, something Durant has still failed to do.

The NBA is the greatest basketball league in the world, and Stephen Curry was voted the best player of the league last season, so could it be him? Is it LeBron James, who has the most MVPs of any player in the league right now? Is it Kevin Durant, who won the MVP title in his last full season? Or is it someone else?

The league has so many great players fighting for the title of “best player” which makes this league so great.
