According to Sean d’Oliveira of CBS Sports, Dirk Nowitzki is not letting himself think about retirement just yet.
This is the German native’s 17th season in the NBA and of course the question of retirement is looming in his near future. Many people thought this could be his last season after he and the Mavericks hit a bit of a rough patch. He dashed those thoughts after he started to turn it back on. Via The Dallas News:
“You know, all the work I put in last summer, I felt amazing in November, so when I went through these droughts here, starting in December and then I couldn’t really turn the corner again, there’s doubt creeping in,” Nowitzki said. “But in my head I was saying, ‘I felt amazing in November, I played amazing, I felt amazing, I moved great, I shot great. Just hopefully eventually get over everything in my body and feel good again and then I still think you can play at a high level.'”
Dirk is still going strong with his team set to go for a playoff run. His efficiency has increased since the all-star break and it couldn’t be at a better time. Now it’s time for Dirk to get his team fired up and ready to pull some upsets in the wild, wild west. If this is Dirk’s last season, hopefully we all get to see him go out with a bang.
