Jason Kidd was enshrined into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

In 1,391 career games, Kidd averaged 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. He was a 10-time All-Star, the 1994-95 Co-Rookie of the Year with Grant Hill, made the All-Defensive team nine times and was part of the Dallas Mavericks team which won the 2011 championship over the Miami Heat.

Portland Trail Blazers point guard, Damian Lillard also shares the same high school alma mater as Kidd,  let up the courts at Kidd’s high school Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, CA.

When asked about what it meant to see Kidd be named a Hall of Famer, Lillard had the biggest praise.

“That’s Big time,” Damian Lillard told sports and entertainment writer, Landon Buford.

“Coming from the Bay Area, I obviously followed J-Kidd, and I have a lot of respect for what he did over the course of his career. I was fortunate enough to play against him in my rookie year, but he had a great career. He became a head coach in this league and he has had a great run at it with the game of basketball and I’m proud to come from the same place as him.”

Jason Kidd recorded the second most assists in NBA history, dishing out 12,091. He has also registered the third most triple-doubles of all-time, compiling 107.
